Tom Flores connected with Art Powell on a 19-yard touchdown pass with under a minute to play to put the Raiders over the top in a 14-7 preseason win against the Chargers in San Diego.

Cotton Davidson started the game at quarterback, but suffered a rib injury on the Raiders' first offensive snap and did not return. Guard Wayne Hawkins aggravated a mild back injury and did not play the second half. Both players were expected to be able to play in the next game, against the Patriots on the 20th.

Center Jim Otto (knee) returned to the lineup after missing his first game ever as a pro against the Oilers on the 2nd.
