Guard Ken Rice finally joined the team after missing the first five weeks of training camp attending to personal matters. He did so without permission of the team and faced a fine of an undisclosed amount.

Defensive tackle Dave Costa sat out practice with a stomach bug.

The Raiders waived the following players: quarterback Lee Grosscup, tackle Doug Brown, wide receiver Dobie Craig, linebacker Bill Minor, guard Gorden Kelly, and center Dave Morgan.

The team expected tackle Frank Youso (foot) and defensive end Dalva Allen (knee) to play against the Chargers on the 28th. Linebacker JR Williamson (knee) was ruled out for the game.
