The Raiders opened training camp for rookies and new veterans in Santa Rosa. Three players were excused from reporting because of military duty: quarterbacks Charlie Green and Rick Egloff, and tackle Dan Archer.

The team announced the signing of a pair of free agents: University of New Hampshire fullback Dan Serieka and University of South Carolina offensive lineman Len Sears.
