The Oilers put halfback Billy Cannon on waivers and the Raiders placed a claim on him, but withdrew the claim shortly thereafter.

The Oilers then put Cannon on injured reserve and said they would have removed Cannon from waivers if the Raiders hadn't rescinded their claim.
